Former imposing fortress, it remains a magnificent 14th century castle perfectly preserved with its two drawbridges still in working order.
In charge of history, Montmuran received Bertrand du Guesclin in 1354 where he was armed Chevalier in the castle chapel and in 1374 where he married Jeanne de Laval-Châtillon after the death of his first wife Tiphaine Raguenel.
A visit is required in Montmuran for its architecture and history.
