Concert de Noël : Une nuit avec les Frères Lumière

“Is it possible to leave a poor sick man all alone like that? Burlesque and lively, presenting a fierce satire of the medicine of its time, Le Malade imaginaire is a “comedy-ballet” – a “comedy mixed with music and dance” as specified in the work’s subtitle – c ie a piece alternating spoken moments with sung or choreographed moments. Through music, the composer must thus succeed in unifying two worlds: the essentially aristocratic one of ballet and court music, and the more bourgeois one which is closer to comedy. It is this version of the work that the Conservatory is offering tonight. With the singing class of Béatrice Tronel, the classical dance classes of Stéphanie Rodighiero, the Theater option class of 3rd of the Chateaubriand College, Sarah Rouppert, harpsichord and the teachers of the Conservatory in musical accompaniment.
