Property of the department. This commune is the cradle of the Guesclin family who, in 1280, built the castle of Plessis-Bertrand there. The cove that bears his name is a natural space which, although it has the privilege of not being urbanized, has paid a heavy price for the construction of the Rance tidal power plant. Indeed, the extraction of sand had considerably amputated the dune cord which, having no more entity, resisted more and more badly to the maritime aggressions. Thanks to the seagrass plantations, the dune was reconstituted, once again playing its role of natural bulwark against attacks from the sea, at the same time finding again a characteristic and diversified fauna and flora.
