The old town Intra-Muros

Access to the ramparts

The complete tour of the ramparts is of 1.754 km; 2 ramps allow you to avoid the stairs that are in each tower and gate of the city.2 ramps allow you to safely access and walk on the ramparts, so the 2 routes allow you to enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the Bay of Saint-Malo and the walk on the ramparts in their entirety.

  • Bastion de la Hollande by the Ramp of Moulin Colin in the direction of the Porte Saint-Thomas located east of the ramparts: 800 meters approximately, that is to say a course of 1.6 km round trip.
  • Bastion St Philippe in the direction of the Porte Saint-Vincent located to the South-East: 750 meters, that is to say a course of 1.5 km round trip.

In both cases you must retrace your steps to go back down the ramparts

    Intra-Muros Tours

    • The historical route in the old town “Intra-Muros” adapted to historical constraints allows you to freely visit the corsair city; however, the historical character of the city (ramparts, cobblestones, narrow streets) does not always facilitate the discovery of the old town: it is therefore recommended that people with motor disabilities, be accompanied. The map of the circuit with the itinerary drawn will allow you to discover both the architectural, historical and cultural heritage of St Malo!

     

    • Parallel to the proposed tour, you will find 150 nails scattered throughout the old town: 42 panels and information desks will present you with anecdotes and illustrations of the Old Saint-Malo.

      The “Follow the Guide Intra-Muros” tour has been adapted; it is available in 2 versions for the visually impaired or blind:

      • 10 booklets in Braille are available at the Tourist Office reception desk against deposit,
      • 10 booklets in large print are available at the Tourist Office reception desk against deposit,

      In addition, 1 large relief map of the old town will allow you to “appropriate” the configuration of the old town, the ramparts and its direct environment to fully enjoy the visit of the corsair city…
